When Bernard Stollman found MIJ (a.k.a. Jim Holmberg) yodeling by the fountain in Washington Square Park on a hot summer afternoon in 1969, Holmberg explained that an auto accident had impaired his hearing. But it had also altered his perception, enabling him to do things he did not understand, but that worked musically. With Onno Scholtze's help, he explored multiple reverb to provide a series of echoes for his yodeling.
